I've been using L'Oreal Double Extend Beauty Tubes for about a week and I have mixed feelings about this mascara. In the past I've HATED any mascara I've tried that you had to apply a primer with. I actually liked this the first time I used it (which is a surprise to me because I never like any new mascara the first time I use it).
LENGTHING: Product says it can make your lashes up to 80% longer. If my lashes were that long they would be over my eyebrows, seriously. I have naturally long lashes and this did hardly anything for them. I noticed such a slight difference that I would just buy any other lengthening mascara that didn't have the tube technology and it would produce the same results. I've never used a "tube" mascara before so I thought that these tubes would just form around the tips of my lashes and extend them out. Boy was I wrong. The tubes actually formed around my entire lash. Anyways, for length this is slightly better than other mascaras I've tried, but it didn't give me the "lash extension" effect I was hoping for.
VOLUME: Because the tubes formed around the entire lash, this did give them some volume. There is so much gunk that forms around each lash that you better curl your lashes when using this or else they won't hold up, they will fall flat. I actually loved how my lashes looked in pictures with this. However, I feel like I had to use too many coats to get the desired effect I wanted. It took me forever just to cover the primer, and even after it didn't seem as black as I wanted it to be.
SEPERATION: My lashes would be nicely separated if I didn't have to coat on so much of the mascara to cover the primer to get the look I like. However, if I just use the primer lightly and then apply the mascara, my lashes kinda look like I just used Maybelline lash Stiletto, which is a good thing because Lash Stiletto I ALWAYS use for separating my lashes.
REMOVAL: A+++++ for removal! I never had a mascara remove so easily in my life! It says its 100% smugeproof and they are extremely accurate when saying this. Warm water is key for removal. One of the days wearing this I had a bad day and was crying and it didn't make those mascara tears running down my face or black mascara eyes, it actually stayed put! I hate waterproof mascaras because I find them so hard to remove, but this kinda acted like one for me without the hassle removing it later. When removing the mascara I didn't expect the gunk would look like taking off my lashes! I looked at my fingers and thought "my lashes better not be in those tubes". It was unsettling even though I knew it was going to happen. The mascara isn't all that bad if it weren't for this part. It just makes me uneasy for some reason...
I can deal with this...
...Seriously?!...Ew.
All-in-all I think this is a good mascara (minus the gunk that disturbs me). Volume, Length and Separation is all up to my standards and I didn't have to use two different kinds (which I normally do to get all three aspects)! . I probably will repurchase this mascara again just because the removal was so easy and didn't smudge around my eyes (that honestly scored big points for me). However, I still think I like my combo of Lash Stiletto and Voluminous better.
UPDATE "BIG, FULLER, LONGER LASH EXPERIMENT": I hear a lot of people apply Vaseline (Petroleum Jelly) to their lashes before bed to condition them. I will be testing this out for the next month and will be making a post mid-November to tell you how my lashes are looking :)
